MANILA -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday described his upcoming second State of the Nation Address (SONA) next week as a performance report for the Filipino people, assuring them that it would be a simple occasion.
“It’s really very simple. It’s just a performance report for Filipinos to see – sa dami ng mga pronouncements, sa dami ng mga salita, kung ito ba ay talagang may kabuluhan o salita lamang,” President Marcos said at the sideline of the distribution of government assistance in Pampanga.
The President also emphasized that his SONA will be more of a report to the people where he will discuss the programs and projects he mentioned in his previous address, show those that have been accomplished, and the things that need to be done.
President Marcos explained that he wants to explain to the Filipino people the significant progress in the Philippines especially on how the international community perceives the country.
“That’s what I want to explain to the people — that we have made significant progress. We can see the difference now not only in terms of how the system works, how the government works,” President Marcos said when asked about the preparations for his upcoming SONA.
“It is also in how we are now seen or judged in the international community. That’s equally important,” he added.
President Marcos is set to deliver his second SONA on July 24. (PND)
