TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Surigao del Sur reported that six local government units in the province of Surigao del Sur got perfect scores in the 2022 Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) performance audit. The good news was shared during the joint quarterly meetings of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), and Provincial Development Council (PDC) on August 2, 2023, held at Villa Maria Luisa Hotel in Tandag City.
The ADAC performance audit evaluates the functionality and effectiveness of local ADACs based on existing issuances and policies; to determine ADAC-initiated and/or -endorsed innovations and best practices at all levels; to create a platform for evaluation and assessment, and to recognize the best, effective and performing council.
Out of the 19 LGUs in Surigao del Sur, 11 were identified with “High Functional” rating in the province.
Accordingly, the LGUs of Tandag City, Bayabas, Cagwait, Cortes, Hinatuan, and Madrid got perfect scores or rated with “High Functional” ADACs.
Other LGUs got a rating of “High Functional” namely, Barobo (97.50), Bislig City (97.50), Cantilan (90.50), Carmen (95.00), Carrascal (98.00), Lianga (93.00), Lingig (95.00), Marihatag (98.00), San Agustin (95.50), San Miguel (97.50), and Tagbina (95.00).
The other two LGUs rated with “Moderate Functional” were Lanuza and Tago, both garnered the score of 75.00.
Meanwhile, The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Surigao del Sur revealed that the local government unit of Tandag City is the first LGU in the province with a certified community-based drug rehabilitation program (CBDRP). San Miguel and San Agustin towms followed and were able to receive the same certification.
Community-based drug rehabilitation program (CBDRP) is a consolidated model of treatment in the community with services ranging from general interventions to relapse prevention. It is specifically designed for drug users with mild severity of addiction. The program involves the coordination of various services and approaches to meet the client’s needs. This approach ensures community participation and linkages to ongoing drug-use prevention and other services which aim to reduce the harm associated with drug use in the community.
