DPWH Biliran sticks to 'Build Better More' in projects implementation

NAVAL, Biliran (PIA) – The top official of the Department of Public Works and Highways - Biliran District Engineering Office (DPWH-BDEO) vowed to stick with the agency’s thrust to Build, Better, More (BBM) in the implementation of its ongoing and new projects construction.

BDEO District Engineer Alfredo L. Bollido assured in a recent interview at his office that they will do their best to improve more in the implementation of their projects in adherence to the new mandate of DPWH under President Ferdinand “Bongbong" Marcos Jr.’s (PBBM) administration.

Bollido set as an example a bridge project that collapsed or washed out due to flooding where he said a thorough study on the cause of its collapse was done, as well as a study on what corrective measures will be made in order to improve and make it resilient.

He added that with the increased budget of the department this year, more resilient projects will be constructed by the engineering district based on the present administraion's thrust.

Bollido further said that in adherence to BBM’s thrust, projects implemented in his engineering district underwent regular inspection not only by the inspectorate team, but he also personally did the actual inspection himself.

This was to ascertain if the project's implementation was done in accordance with specifications, and if its construction was in conformity with standard project design.

“If we wanted infrastructure to last long and be resilient as what PBBM envisioned, there must be regular project inspection,” he said in an interview few days after inspection on several infrastructure projects implemented around the engineering district was conducted on August 1.

Among the infra projects inspected were the ongoing construction of the new BDEO office building located in Baranga Larrazabal, Naval, Biliran; several road networks that connects to tourism destinations and ecozones; and slope protections, bridges, and several houses that encroached in the implementation of road widening projects.
