“Mahalagang makilala ng bagong henerasyon ang ating Kawit at ang ambag natin sa kasaysayan pati na sa kalayaan ng ating bansa,” (it is important for the new generation to have an in depth knowledge about our town and its contribution to history and independence), said Camposanto.
Through this understanding, it is the LGU’s hope that it will forge appreciation and love for the historical town.
Done in partnership with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), the tour itinerary includes the town’s historical landmarks like Museo ni Baldomero Aguinaldo, Diocesan Shrine and Parish of St. Mary Magdalene, the Battle of Binakayan Monument and the Aguinaldo museum and freedom park.
Guests will be touring around on board Cavite’s very own baby bus. Tour guides, including water on board and some light snacks, are also provided.
To date, local tourism has catered to youth groups, the LGBTQIA+ community, religious organizations, tour operators, and persons with disability (PWD) sector.
There are two remaining Thursdays left to join the tour - on the 24th and 31st of August – and non-Kawit residents are welcome to join. (RF/PIA-Cavite; with reports from Gladys Pino)
