TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) -- The municipality of Tolosa is the host of the grand launching of Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) in Leyte on September 23-24, 2023.
This is the second leg of the BPSF in Eastern Visayas after it was first launched in Naval, Biliran in August.
The BPSF is one of the flagship programs of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. which aims to bring government services closer to the people.
During a press conference held at at the Tingog Community Center in Tacloban City on Thursday, Bonita Larios of the BPSF National Secretariat said the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair will be held simultaneously with three other provinces in the country (Ilocos Norte, Camarines Sur, and Davao de Oro).
“We are looking at a better, a stronger and good implementation of the Serbisyo Fair as we move further,” Lariosa said.
When asked why the municipality of Tolosa was chosen as the venue for the launching, Lariosa explained that the location of the place was taken into consideration.
According to Lariosa, they choose the town of Tolosa for the Leyte leg because it has the facility to house the whole event which is the Visayas State University - Tolosa Campus and is accessible to residents coming from other towns in Leyte.
More or less 50 government agencies will join the BPSF offering various programs and services. These agencies include the Government Service Insurance System, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Social Security System, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Statistics Authority, Land Transportation Office, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Agriculture, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, National Housing Authority, Department of Health, Department of Science and Technology, among other government agencies.
Aside from House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, other officials from various government agencies are also expected to grace the activity and lead the ceremonial turnover of items, programs, and services to the beneficiaries such as Atty. Michelle Angelica D. Go, DENR Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs; PCA Administrator Bernie F. Cruz; DOLE Assistant Secretary Paul Vincent W. Anover; DICT Assistant Secretary Maria Teresa M. Camba; DTI Assistant Secretary Dominico R. Tolentino Jr. and Assistant Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque; DBM Undersecretary Goddes Libiran; DA Undersecretary Agnes Catherine Miranda; DOH Undersecretary Gloria Balboa; DOST Undersecretary Maridon Sahagun; DSWD Assistant Secretary Florentino Loyola Sr.; Deputy National Statistician Minerva Eloisa P. Esquivias; CHED Commissioner Ronald Adamat; Assistant Secretary Jerome Pampilona of the Department of Migrant Workers; and Undersecretary Garry V. De Guzman of the Department of Human Settlements.
Some of the services of the Serbisyo Fair include the distribution of 665 E-titles (Certificate of Land Ownership Award), turn-over of farm machineries and equipment, turnover of livelihood program for OFW reintegration program, mobile franchising by the LTFRB, Pambansang Pabahay Program (4PH) listing of beneficiaries, distribution of loan approval by DTI, distribution of DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, DOLE’s job fair, BFAR's distribution of fishing gears, tilapia feeds and fingerlings, PCSO's caravan of products and services; Lab for All Medical and Dental Services og DOH, DFA's Passport on Wheels, issueance of NBI clearance; among others.
Awarding of the top taxpayers by the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the ceremonial turnover of milestone benefits of two 90-year-old pensioners of GSIS will also be held during the serbisyo fair.
President Marcos Jr. is expected to give his Keynote Address through a live simulcast in the four provinces conducting the serbisyo fair.
At least 60,000 Leyteños are expected to benefit from the programs and services of various government services during the two-day serbisyo fair. (LDL/CBA/PIA-8)
