BORONGAN (PIA) -- Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. leads the payout of the P3-M financial assistance to 2,000 individuals from the 20 barangays of Borongan City through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), held at the Capitol Gymnasium in Borongan City on September 15.
“Nagpapasalamat ako, eversince hindi niyo ako pinabayaan, mapa-pelikula, mapa-television, at mapa-public service…nandiyan pa rin kayo, hindi niyo ako kinalimutan, na andyan parin ang iyong pagmamahal sa akin, kaya taus-puso akong nagpapasalamat sa inyong lahat,” the Senator Revilla, who is the chairperson of the Senate Committees on Public Works and on Services, said during a short program before the payout.
Meanwhile, Eastern Samar Governor Ben P. Evardone remarked how well the Revillas worked with him during his previous term in congress, especially with Rep. Lanie Mercado-Revilla, the wife of Senator Revilla Jr.
“Maraming salamat Senator Bong, ang Eastern Samar ay hindi ka makakalimutan. Alam po namin kung saan ang puso ninyo,” Gov. Evardone thanked the Senator.
A thankful 61-year-old Luz Grafil said the financial assistance is a big help to her daily needs as she is taking maintenance medicines.
"Masaya ako kasi madami ang natatanggap naming tulong na mga senior citizens mula sa gobyerno, masaya lalo ako ngayon kasi nakita ko ang idol ko," Luz added.
The distribution of financial assistance was led by the DSWD Regional Office 8 in partnership with Eastern Samar Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
Each beneficiary received P1,500 cash aid.
The senator's visit to Eastern Samar is part of his month-long birthday celebration which will be on September 25. From the AICS payout in Borongan City, the Senator hit the roads again to visit Northern Samar.
The AICS social welfare program of DSWD offers food, medical care, funeral services, transportation, education, and financial support for other necessities for an individual or family.
AICS serves as a social safety net or a stop-gap mechanism to support the recovery of individuals and families from unexpected crises, such as illness or death of a family member, and natural and man-made disasters.
It is part of DSWD’s protective services which provides medical, burial, educational, transportation, food and other cash assistance to persons or families in crisis situations. (MMP/VTG/PIA Eastern Samar)
