NIA IV-A reaffirms commitment in modernizing agri sector with new slogan

PILA, Laguna (PIA) -- The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) unveiled its new slogan, ‘NIA Gear Up’ which serves as the agency’s guide in employing modernization and innovation to enhance irrigation services for the livelihood of Filipino farmers in the Calabarzon region.

Regional Manager Engr. Roberto Dela Cruz unveiled the commitment wall adorned with gears as a metaphor for a powerful, synchronized movement where the motion of one gear influences others.

"We cannot work alone, and we should always be guided by our objectives. Like these gears which symbolizes our agency, there are no big or small efforts in our agency. Each one of us contributes for the good of our agency. Indeed, these gears encourage us to level-up our commitment to deliver effective change needed by the agriculture sector” he emphasized.

The regional manager recognized the crucial roles of all employees as an interconnected mechanism, serving as an effective tool to achieve food security in the country as one of the goals of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

This year, Dela Cruz said that NIA IV-A will focus on modernizing irrigation systems and facilities, promoting sustainable agriculture, strengthening Irrigators Associations (IAs), and investing in research and development initiatives.

Staying true in this commitment is the implementation of NIA’s re-fleeting program which seeks to further modernize and innovate the agricultural sector.

During the program, six units of Zoomlion Crawl-Type Excavators were unveiled that will be used in maintaining irrigation canals, facilitating water distribution, and addressing the immediate repair or construction of facilities affected by natural disasters in key areas within the region.

Though the nation will brace the effects of El Niño in the coming months, Dela Cruz said that their personnel remains committed and dedicated towards irrigation development, food security, and providing assistance to farmers.

He added: “NIA CALABARZON is poised for a transformative journey, aiming to reshape the landscape of agriculture in the region for a more prosperous and sustainable future.” (CH/PIA-Laguna; with reports from NIA IV-A)
