BAYABAS, Surigao del Sur -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - First District Engineering Office recently turned over a two-story school building with six classrooms to Solomon P. Lozada National High School in Bayabas, Surigao del Sur.
The P17.5 million school building will benefit over 600 students of the school as they will have a better facility for learning.
The construction of the school building started on January 13, 2023, and was completed on November 8, 2023, which was timely as the old school building was destroyed by the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that hit the province of Surigao del Sur.
In his message, Cerro expressed gratitude for basking in the afternoon heat as they celebrated the victory for their community.
“We bear the scars of the recent magnitude 7.4 earthquake, as it claimed and made the old school building unserviceable, leaving a gaping wound in the heart of our educational landscape. Yet, from the ashes rose resilience, and we witnessed the true meaning of leadership,” Cerro said.
District Engineer Ruel B. Bantugan led the ceremonial turnover to the Department of Education in the presence of the Surigao del Sur Schools Division Superintendent Nelia S. Lomocso and Solomon P. Lozada National High School Principal Arjun D. Cerro.
He also acknowledged the unwavering support of Governor Alexander Pimentel and 1st District Representative and Committee Chairperson on Public Works and Highways, Engr. Romeo S.
