PSA-8 launches 34th Civil Registration Month in Tacloban City

TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Regional Statistical Service Office 8 (PSA RSSO 8) is set to launch in this city the 34th Civil Registration Month with this year's theme, “CRVS: the Future of Seamless Services.”

The month-long celebration in February will kick off on January 31, 2024 at 8 a.m. through a motorcade at downtown area in this city followed by a formal launch along Real Street, Tacloban City.

It will be joined by PSA-8 personnel, member agencies of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics of Region 8 (RIACCRVS VIII), other government agencies, members of the academe, civil registrars’ officers, students, and other stakeholders.

"Civil registration month reminds us that identity and efficient access to services begins with reliable records," PSA-8 Director Wilma Perante said in a press statement.

“When vital life events are properly documented, individuals can more seamlessly obtain healthcare, vote, attend school and claim benefits,” Perante added.

This year’s theme highlights the critical role that birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, and other vital records play in enabling Filipinos’ access to healthcare, education, voting, property ownership and other critical services.

Other activities during the month-long celebration include caravan, mobile registration, hanging/display of streamers, free issuance of certification, mass weddings, symposiums, civil registration quiz, poster making, and exhibits. (LDL/CBA/PIA-8 with reports from PSA-8)
