CATARMAN, Northern Samar (PIA) — In line with the celebration of Civil Registration Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Civil Registry Personnel Association of Northern Samar (CREPANS) have intensified the civil registration campaign for Northern Samar residents.
Maria Theresa Elizalde, the PSA supervising statistical specialist, mentioned that they already launched the PSA PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP) and mobile registration to meet the target for registration.
“Recipients of PBRAP are individuals living in remote and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, impoverished sector, and those living outside their place of birth,” Elizalde said.
She added that they would bring the registration closer to the communities through a house-to-house campaign. However, some still needed to be educated about its importance.

The PBRAP is a government endeavor to identify registration needs, such as tedious requirements, and lessen or minimize the fees for delayed registration.

Data for Northern Samar shows that from the start of PBRAP, the target number of individuals to be registered from 2022-2024 is 10,535.
PSA said every Filipino has to register concerning the status of persons and be accounted for to generate reliable statistical data.
The data generated from the registration is beneficial to the developmental trust of every local government unit. (AAC/ADiaz/PIA Northern Samar)
