ALABEL, Sarangani (PIA) -- The provincial government of Sarangani, through its Ronda Probinsya Edukasyon flagship program, has stepped up its effort to augment the learning modalities of the Department of Education (DepEd) by distributing various learning aids to schools worth P10.2 million.

"Buo ang aking paniniwala na ang dekalidad na edukasyon ang susi upang maitaas ang antas ng pamumuhay ng ating mga kababayan,” said Gov. Rogelio Pacquiao, as he assured Sarangani teachers during the “Learning Effectively through Enhanced and Evidence-Based Pedagogies (LEEP): Provision of Laptops and Televisions (TV) for Smart Education” held recently at the Capitol gymnasium in Alabel.

The Sarangani Provincial Information Office reported that a total of 166 units of 55-inch TV sets were provided to 130 identified schools, along with 20 units of 45-inch TV distributed to Kindergarten Volunteer Teachers (KVT) in 20 schools, including 93 laptops in support of DepEd’s LEEP program.

The governor noted that the province’s collaborative partnership through its Ronda Probinsya Edukasyon with the DepEd Sarangani “is making significant strides in strengthening the education sector” in the province.

Pacquiao reiterated his governance vision “towards digitalization in education,” saying he is fully supportive of the LEEP program of DepEd.

In order to raise the quality of life for Sarangani’s constituents, the governor highlighted the need for "quality education" and the necessity of enhancing teachers' skills to keep up with the demands of the times.

It is anticipated that the integration of information and communication technology (ICT) resources into educational frameworks will provide teachers with the necessary tools they need to improve student learning and create an avenue for professional growth, the governor said.

Teachers from DepEd Sarangani and other stakeholders who received television sets and laptops from the provincial government of Sarangani conveyed their gratitude, describing the items as effective learning and teaching aids for both teachers and students. Meanwhile, Ruth Estacio, Sarangani Schools Division superintendent, conveyed her gratitude to the provincial officials for boosting their support in the education sector of the province while also addressing the school teachers.

“We have the LEEP program, which is Learning Effectively through Enhanced and Evidence-Based Pedagogies. We want you to level up the way you teach. Not just books, not just printed materials, but you explain the concept and the lessons. So that the learners can grasp it well," she told the teachers.

Estacio also explained the significance of the program in utilizing multimedia tools to enhance the teaching-learning process and emphasized the importance of providing teachers with training to effectively integrate technology into their lessons.

“I can’t express how much we feel right now, but indeed, our hearts are full of gratitude and joy for all your support. It’s really a hundred and one percent support for the cause of education,” she said.

She also commended the provincial government for its dedication to enhancing the education sector, saying the distribution of TVs and laptops is part of Vice President Sara Duterte's Matatag Curriculum Agenda.

The Matatag Curriculum is DepEd’s strategic solution to address the various challenges confronted by the education sector, setting the stage for a new direction for the agency and its stakeholders. (HJPF - PIA SarGen/Sarangani PIO)
