President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the groundbreaking of the P23-billion Samal Island-Davao City Connector (SIDC) Project in a program at Buhangin District, Davao City on October 27, 2022.

The construction of the bridge will be funded through a loan agreement entered between the Philippines and the People’s Republic of China amounting to USD350 million or P18.67 billion, with said loan covering 90 percent of the project cost. Once completed, it is expected to shorten travel time from Davao City to Samal from around 30 minutes via ferry to just 5 minutes.
