The National Nutrition Council (NNC) spearheaded the national launch of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023-2028, which serves as the country’s blueprint of action for nutrition improvement, held on 4 September 2023 at the Manila Hotel.

The new PPAN highlights food and nutrition policies and strategies intended for stakeholders and duty-bearers. It also addresses all forms of malnutrition such as stunting and wasting, overweight and obesity, poor infant and young child feeding practices, and micronutrient deficiencies.

During the national launch, NNC Executive Director Assistant Secretary Dr. Azucena Dayanghirang emphasized these calls to action: PRIORITIZE through the implementation of PPAN 2023-2028; PARTNER among government agencies, NGOs, CSOs, private sector, academe, International partners, and communities; ACCELERATE through the implementation of evidence-based interventions; and NOURISH by sustaining agriculture and food system.
