QUEZON CITY -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is now setting the stage for the conduct of the 1st National Convention on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (1NCCRVS) to be held on 01 to 03 September 2021.
The conduct of the event is in line with Presidential Proclamation No. 1106 s.2015 dated 20 August 2015 declaring the years 2015 to 2024 as Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Decade in the Philippines. The convention will be conducted virtually via Zoom Video Conferencing with the theme “Strengthening Civil Registration and Vital Statistics’ Digital Information: The Ways to Manage the New Normal,” directed towards the universal civil registration of vital events to ensure the production of accurate, complete and timely vital statistics.
The 1NCCRVS generally aims to serve as a venue to inform city/municipal registrars, solemnizing officers, academe, statisticians, and other stakeholders on the recent developments on CRVS in the country. Specifically, it seeks to 1) provide knowledge on civil registration concepts, procedures, laws, and policy issuances; 2) share best practices, experiences, and ideas on civil registration;
3) enhance data appreciation for vital statistics; and 4) provide updates on Solemnizing Officers and Information System (SOIS), Civil Registration System Information Technology Project II (CRS-ITP2), and the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Registration.
Among the expected highlights of the 1NCCRVS is the awarding of Outstanding Local Civil Registry Offices in the country for the year 2020.
Undersecretary Dennis Mapa, Ph.D., National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, looks forward to greater participation and cooperation from the local civil registrars, solemnizing officers, and other stakeholders from all over the country in this three-day activity. The event is the best time to ask PSA partners to renew the stakeholders' commitment and to continue working hand-in-hand in the realization of the goals and targets of the CRVS Decade 2015 to 2024.
