PASAY CITY -- Following his relief efforts in Kawayan and Naval from July 21 to 22, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go sent his team to deliver assistance to more market vendors and Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association members in Almeria, Biliran on Friday, July 23.
In his video message, Go requested the 146 beneficiaries in attendance at Almeria Municipal Gym to participate in the national vaccination program now that they are eligible as part of the essential workers belonging in the A4 category.
He also urged the local government units to immediately inoculate their residents as soon as doses are delivered to their community to make certain that no vaccines go to waste.
The Senator also reminded the public to adhere to and comply with the necessary health preventive measures to further prevent the spread of the virus.
As he continues to prioritize the health and well-being of Filipinos, Go, who is the Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, encouraged those with health concerns to visit the nearby Malasakit Center at the Biliran Provincial Hospital in Naval if they may need any medical attention.
The center is a one-shop where particularly low-income Filipinos may conveniently avail medical programs offered by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Go’s staff, then, grouped the beneficiaries into smaller batches as they received essentials, such as meals, masks, face shields, and vitamins while necessary safety and health protocols were enforced.
Go also sent new pairs of shoes and bicycles to some recipients while others received computer tablets to help their children participate better during their classes under the blended learning set-up implemented in schools.
The Senator gave recognition to several government agencies for their continuing support to further help poor communities recover amid the health crisis.
Financial assistance was given to each beneficiary by the DSWD while the Department of Trade and Industry evaluated recipients for their Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa Program.
Moreover, scholarship grants from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority offered skills training to qualified individuals.
