MANILA -- Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the bridge that will connect city of Mandaluyong to the central business district of Makati within five (5) minutes will available to the motoring public this week.
Secretary Villar said that despite the challenges, DPWH delivered its commitment for the July opening of the modern Estrella Pantaleon Bridge.
This newly completed bridge was implemented by DPWH Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Operations and is expected to further decongest vehicular traffic at Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA), added Secretary Villar.
While this pandemic may have slowed down and disrupted the implementation of this bridge project, the UPMO Team led by Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain with UPMO Roads Management Cluster 1 Project Director Benjamin A. Bautista, former Project Director Virgilio C. Castillo and Project Manager Melchor Kabiling have worked double time to deliver the quality completion of the P1.46 billion Estrella Pantaleon Bridge Project.
Ahead of the opening, Undersecretary Sadain with Project Director Bautista conducted final safety checking on July 27, 2021 of the new bridge expected to accommodate about 50,000 vehicles daily.
The bridge is one of the two (2) bridges funded by a grant of the People’s Republic of China — the other one is Binondo-Intramuros Bridge in Manila expected to be finished at the end of the year.
