Song writing contest extended to 31 July

QUEZON CITY -- The Civil Service Commission (CSC) extended the deadline of entries to the National Song Writing Contest until 31 July.

Government workers, including Job Orders and Contracts of Service, may still submit entries to the CSC Regional Office (ROs) to which they belong. For the complete email addresses of CSC ROs, refer to www.csc.gov.ph/cscrod.

Interested contestants may access the mechanics and entry form via www.csc.gov.ph/pcsa2021.

The lyrics, which may be in any Filipino language or dialect (including the English translation), should adhere to the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) 2021-2031 theme, Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant-Heroes. The 10-year theme reflects the path the civil service has to take to build on the gains of last year’s modernization efforts in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the role of HR in building a competent and credible workforce in the new normal.

Contestants may submit a maximum of two (2) entries, and each entry must not exceed four (4) minutes. Each song entry should be an original composition of the contestant, and all rights, including copyright to the entry, must be owned exclusively by the contest.

Entries will be assessed on creativity and originality, melody, lyrics, and overall likeability.

Regional and national winners will receive cash prizes, and the winning entry will be featured as the competition song in the next Government Choral Competition, also hosted by the CSC in partnership with the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The contest is one of the highlights of the upcoming 121st PCSA celebration in September. The awarding ceremony for the song writing contest will be held on 23 September.  (CSC)
