PALO, Leyte -- Members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) attacked personnel of the Calbayog City Police Station onboard a PNP patrol car, while on convoy with the staff of Calbayog City Health Office at Brgy. Lale, Pinabacdao, Samar on Tuesday, July 27.

Initial investigation disclosed that the personnel were conducting convoy security heading towards the Department of Health (DOH) Regional Office 8 in Palo, Leyte to get COVID-19 vaccines which are supposed to be administered to the people of Calbayog City upon its arrival at the City Health Office.

After an initial burst of fire, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was used by unidentified CTG members to perpetrate the attack.

While the incident recorded no casualty and damage, all concerned units were alerted to heighten its security measures. Further investigation is already in place.

Meanwhile, PBGen. Ronaldo F. De Jesus, regional director of Police Regional Office 8, strongly condemns this treacherous, malevolent and desperate act of the enemy which compromised the noble purpose of delivering basic services to the people of Eastern Visayas. (PRO-8)
