BUTUAN CITY -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) Caraga through the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) conducted recently a two-part training to further boost the soybean industry in the region.
On July 13 and 14, a training on Soybean Processing System was conducted to promote value-adding of soybean and develop a group of soybean farmers into productive soybean entrepreneurs.
The topics discussed included Soybean and its Health Benefits, Soybean Based Value Added Products and its ROI, and Food Manufacturing Practices for Food Processing and Proper Hygiene. There were also actual demonstrations of soybean processing.
The second training on Capability Building for Small-Scale Farmers on Enterprise Development was conducted on July 21 and 22. The training’s objective is for farmers to understand the basic principles in Enterprise Development.
The two trainings were conducted in Trento, Agusan del Sur and participated by members of the United Farmers’ Association of Cebolin, a farmers’ group engaged in soybean production. The association has 10.9 hectares planted with soybeans. (DA-RFO XIII, RAFIS/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
