Isabela farmer-beneficiaries receive tractor from DAR

QUEZON CITY -- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in the province of Isabela has turned over a 4-wheel drive tractor amounting to P950,000.00, to help agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs)  in the municipality of Gamu boost their farm production.

A total of 224 farmer-members of Barcolan Buenavista Dammo Development Cooperative (BARBUEDA DECO), a DAR-assisted agrarian reform beneficiary organization (ARBO) located in Gamu, Isabela, would benefit from the tractor.

The farm machinery was  provided under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project (CRFPSP) on Major Crop-Based Block Farm and Sustainable Livelihood Program of the agency.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II (PARPO) Eunomio Jr. Israel said the tractor would help ease the farming method of the farmers and would increase their farm yields.

“Higher farm yields would help increase the ARBOs income, which would eventually contribute in ensuring enough food supply in the province,” Israel said.

Prior to the turn-over of the tractor, the DAR conducted an inspection and actual testing of the machinery.

A memorandum of agreement was formally signed between the DAR, as represented by PARPO Israel, and BARBUEDA DECO Chairman Arlene Lopez to ensure that the tractor would be well-taken cared of by the ARBO.

Israel said the activity was made possible through the strong leadership of Secretary Brother John Castriciones, Undersecretary Emily Padilla, Regional Director Samuel Solomero, and other top officials of DAR Provincial Office. (DAR)
