QUEZON CITY -- Employees from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in the province of Laguna received their first jab of the vaccine against the contagious and deadly Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19).
The twenty-four (24) DAR personnel, led by Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO II) Elizabeth Villapando, were inoculated with AstraZeneca vaccine through the supervision of the Provincial Government of Laguna.
Assistant Secretary and concurrent Calabarzon Regional Director Rene Colocar was well pleased with their vaccination, which he said would be for the health protection of the employees.
“Our employees have long been wishing to be vaccinated because of their fear of contracting the disease. But despite their fear, they still provide unwavering service to the public, particularly our agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs),” Colocar said.
Colocar, however, reminded the personnel that they should still maintain social distancing, wear masks, and washing of their hands frequently. “They are not totally immune from the disease, the vaccine protects them from getting seriously ill.”
The Assistant Secretary also commended the coordination between DAR-Laguna and the municipal office for providing service to the people amidst these trying times.
“To our valued clientele, our full service continues in the midst of this troubling and threatening pandemic, with high hope and prayer, that this ordeal ends, not to derail, affect our office and field transactions,” he said. (DAR)
