PASAY CITY -- As part of his priorities to improve the capabilities of Bureau of Fire Protection in addressing fire-related concerns, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go remains optimistic in the enactment of Senate Bill No. 1832, otherwise known as the BFP Modernization Act
On August 4, the bicameral conference committee report was ratified during the Senate session.
A day earlier, on Tuesday, August 3, Go expressed his deep concern to families who were victims of recent fire incidents in Metro Manila as he sent his team to deliver assistance to eleven families in Brgy. 880 Zone 96 District 6, Sta. Ana, Manila, and two families in Brgy. Sta. Ana, Taguig City.
Through his video message, Go reassured that the BFP Modernization bill, once enacted into law, will help strengthen the country’s fire prevention and response capabilities in order to save lives. Under the bill, the Bureau shall undergo a modernization program wherein BFP will acquire new fire equipment, recruit more firefighters, and provide specialized training for firefighters, among others.
Magtulungan lang tayo,” said Go.
A lost life is a lost life forever.
To ensure the health and well-being of the Filipinos, Go urged the public to take part in the vaccination program as the government continues to strive to supply sufficient vaccines, especially for those residing in critical areas.
He, then, reminded the beneficiaries to remain vigilant and compliant with necessary COVID-19 health guidelines even after receiving the doses as the Delta variant continues to spread fast.
Go’s team carried out two separate relief efforts at respective barangay halls where they enforced strict safety and health protocols to safeguard the beneficiaries while beneficiaries receive financial assistance, grocery packs, meals, masks, face shields, and vitamins.
Personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development were also present and distributed separate financial assistance to affected families.
Apart from the aid provided, Go reached out to the beneficiaries and offered medical assistance as he encouraged them to visit any of the 26 Malasakit Centers across Metro Manila.
First established in Cebu in 2018, the Malasakit Center aims to support the hospital expenses of low-income patients by putting under one roof all concerned agencies that offer medical programs, such as DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
The Senator, then, thanked local government officials of Manila City and Taguig City for their continuous support to their constituents and for making certain that they receive necessary support amid the global pandemic. (OSBG)
