DPWH-BDEO chief inspects completed FMR projects in Biliran

NAVAL, Biliran -- District Engineer Ferdinand A. Briones of Department of Public Works and Highways - Biliran District Engineering Office (DPWH-DEO) has inspected completed farm-to-market road (FMR) projects in Biliran on August 5.

Inspected are three FMR projects funded under the Bayanihan II 2020 funding in convergence with DPWH and Department of Agriculture amounting to P35-M.

These projects have a total length of 2.18 kilometers – an 830-meter FMR in Brgy. Matanggo to Sitio Patag, Brgy. Tabunan in Almeria town; 850-meter FMR along Barangay Catmon, Naval; and a 500-meter FMR in Barangay Cabungaan, also in Naval.

All of these projects involve the opening and concreting of a two-lane road with thickness of 0.23 meter and width of 5 meters.

The completed projects will help ease the burden of farmers in transporting their agricultural products to the market centers, reducing transportation cost as well as provide a safer and faster mobility of their goods.

“These projects were completed ahead of schedule. Target completion date is on August 14, 2021, yet as early as of June, 2021, all three projects were already completed,” said Briones.

Moreover, Briones reported that six FMR projects amounting to P84.4-M under 2021 funding have already started construction. These projects have now an overall accomplishment of 20.19% as of July 31, 2021. Expected date of completion is on November 13, 2021 to January 12, 2022. (DPWH-BDEO)
