PASAY CITY -- Senator Christopher “Bong” Go continued to reach out to more struggling sectors amid the global pandemic. On Wednesday, August 11, the Senator sent his outreach team to provide assistance to 300 workers, mostly comprised of vendors, hog raisers, and sari-sari store owners, in Lapinig, Northern Samar.
In his video message during the distribution event conducted at Lapinig Municipal Gym, Go appealed to the authorities to inoculate residents immediately in accordance with vaccine guidelines. He then commended essential workers who have been vaccinated already, stressing that their cooperation can help boost vaccine confidence in their communities.
Go assured that the Duterte administration is carefully striking a balance between health protection measures and economic recovery in order to save more lives while continuously aiming to provide a more comfortable life for all Filipinos.
Meanwhile, Go’s personnel then grouped the beneficiaries into smaller batches and proceeded to hand out essentials, such as meals, masks, face shields, and vitamins while necessary safety and health protocols were observed.
New pairs of shoes and computer tablets were given to selected beneficiaries. Others also brought home bicycles that they can use to conveniently travel to work or get daily essentials.
More forms of aid were given by several agencies as part of the government’s efforts to support more struggling sectors amid the pandemic.
Staff from the Department of Social Welfare and Development helped the essential workers start business opportunities by providing them livelihood assistance grants.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries were evaluated by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority where qualified individuals will benefit from their respective livelihood and scholarship programs.
