DPWH Biliran chief inspects newly turned over health facility building in Almeria town

NAVAL, Biliran -- The Department of Public Works and Highways - Biliran District Engineering Office (DPWH-BDEO) top officials headed by District Engineer Ferdinand A. Briones inspected the newly turned over health facility building in Brgy. Jamorawon, Almeria, Biliran on August 18.

Engineer Briones was accompanied by BDEO Assistant District Engineer Alfredo L. Bollido and Engr. Luisito Filemon A. Abad, chief of Construction Section, together with Dr. Christopher J. Casas, municipal health officer, and Hon. Richard D. Jaguros, municipal mayor of Almeria.

The said completion of the Rural Health Unit (RHU) building was made possible thru the collective efforts of the Local Government Unit of Almeria, Provincial Government Unit of Biliran, Department of Health (DOH) and DPWH-BDEO.

Two of these projects were implemented by the DPWH-BDEO funded under FY 2015 under Health Facilities Enhancement Program worth P7.9-M and under FY 2021 worth P4.8-M which includes rehabilitation of the RHU.

According to Briones, his inspection aims to assess the building and give possible recommendations that would further enhance the said facility.

The said health facility building is now operational and ready to deliver basic quality health services to Almerianons.

The building also functions as Tuberculosis Directly Observed Treatment Strategy (TB-DOTS) center and birthing facility.

Hon. Rogelio J. Espina, provincial governor; Dr. Casas; and Mayor Jaguros lead the turnover and blessing ceremony of the new Almeria Rural Health Unit, TB DOTS and Birthing facility and the turnover of new ambulance to RHU Almeria on August 18 assisted by other municipal officials and witnessed by the health workers of RHU Almeria.
