Red Cross has already aided more than 6,000 individuals in its ‘Maring’ recovery operations

MANDALUYONG CITY -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) isn't showing any signs of slowing down with its recovery operations. Days after Severe Tropical Storm wreak havoc in the region of Northern Luzon, PRC has continously given aid to more than 6,000 individuals in six different provinces including Palawan, Baguio, Abra, La Union, Benguet, and Ilocos Sur.

In Baguio where 44 houses were damaged by Maring, PRC distributed mattresses to 24 families as well as provided bottled water and bread to 100 individuals.

For the province of Abra, PRC's local chapter provided bottled water and bread to 1,000 individuals and distributed hygiene kits to 165 people.

PRC Palawan also deployed a team to distribute bottles of clean drinking water and hot meals to 425 Maring- affected individuals. Face masks were also distributed to 100 people to ensure that health protocols are observed. Red Cross also provided 100 people with clothing in Maring-affected communities in Palawan.

In Benguet, PRC staff and volunteers distributed hygiene kits to 29 people and gave psychosocial first aid to 4 individuals.

In Maring-battered La Union, PRC's staff and volunteers provided hot meals to 935 individuals and provided clean water to 3,288 individuals with its water tankers.

In Ilocos Sur, 13 individuals were saved by PRC and evacuated as waters flooded the Municipalities of Narvacan, Sta. Maria, and Tagudin.

PRC is proving that when a tropical storm strikes, each donation to the country's premier humanitarian organization helps in providing shelter, food, and comfort to affected families.

"Even before storms like Maring hit communities in our country, the Philippine Red Cross already prepares for the worst. Inihahanda namin ang mga kailangan para kapag tumama na ang bagyo, mabilis namin maibibigay ang tulong sa mga tao. Ganyan ang Red Cross, bago, habang, at pagkatapos tumama ang bagyo, nariyan ang mga staff and volunteers ang Red Cross para sa ating mga kababayan," said Sen. Gordon. (Philippine Red Cross)
