QUEZON CITY -- Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana called on the Filipino people to reject divisiveness and support efforts in reconciliation and development during the remembrance of the liberation of Marawi on 16 October 2021.
In his message of peace, which was delivered at the Marawi City Hall Compound, Secretary Lorenzana said that unity in the face of destructive hatred saved Marawi from its complete ruin.
“Let us reach out to our families, friends, and relatives so that violence and conflict will not have a place in the better and brighter Marawi City that we are building,” Secretary Lorenzana stated.
Secretary Lorenzana also commended Task Force Bangon Marawi and all its member-agencies for their efforts in ensuring the rehabilitation and recovery process of the city and its inhabitants.
Moreover, the Defense Secretary highlighted that despite the weakening of peace-spoiling groups, the security sector remains vigilant.
“The AFP, together with other relevant agencies, is relentless in its internal security operations and consistently engages in collaborative efforts to prevent and control violent extremism,” Secretary Lorenzana said. (DND)
