Red Cross continues response in Batanes more than a month after Typhoon Kiko

MANDALUYONG CITY -- As the strong winds and torrential rains of typhoon Kiko hit Batanes and other parts of Northern Luzon last September 10, destroying homes and affecting thousands of individuals, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) immediately sent aid to the municipalities of Basco, Uyugan, Mahatao, and Sabtang. The humanitarian organization provided shelter tool kits, tarpaulins as temporary shelter, Jerry cans with water tablets for safe drinking water, solar lamps, flashlights, a motorcycle, and two portable generator units.

Moreover, on October 19, 2021, the PRC Batanes Chapter continued its response through the hauling of additional non-food relief items. While volunteers were also mobilized to distribute relief items for 42 families in Brgy. Kaychanarianan, Basco on October 20, 2021. (Philippine Red Cross)
