Outstanding learners, teachers, and administrators recognized in Gawad Siklab 2021 Awards

PASIG CITY -- The Department of Education (DepEd) recognized outstanding program implementers, student leaders, supreme student and pupil government teacher advisers, school heads, and regional and division youth formation coordinators in the recently-concluded Gawad Siklab 2021 last October 16.

Organized by the Bureau of Learner Support Services – Youth Formation Division (BLSS-YFD), in partnership with SDO Caloocan City, Gawad Siklab awarded 42 recognitions in four categories namely, Student Government Awards on Elementary and High School, National Greening Awards (YES-O and GPP) for Elementary and High School, Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) High School Level Only, and Youth Formation Coordinators Awards.

“I congratulate each and every one of the awardees, you truly deserve the recognition which you have worked so hard for. And I thank each and every one of you in the name of the Department of Education (DepEd) for your contributions for our continued survival, to our continued sense of serving our communities, our country, and especially our learners,” Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones said.

“Let this Gawad Siklab ignite our passion. Let us ablaze our projects with creativity, with innovativeness, and also with courage and inspiration,” she added.

This year’s Gawad Siklab highlighted the contribution of teachers and learners in helping the basic education sector hurdle the challenges brought by the pandemic.

“The Gawad Siklab is a testament to the Department of Education's commitment to nation-building. Today, we honor remarkable individuals, students, teachers, and school organizations who went above and beyond what is expected of them amid a global health crisis. With your unwavering sense of nationhood and service, you continue to affirm DepEd's thrust for an education anchored on social relevance and change,” Undersecretary for Administration Alain Del B. Pascua said.

In addition, the national awarding ceremony was an avenue to celebrate and highlight initiatives, individuals, and schools with outstanding and extraordinary work for the betterment of their respective communities.

“Ang Gawad Siklab ay hindi lamang isang parangal, ito ay pagbibigay pugay sa mga katangi-tanging proyekto na nagdulot ng positibong pagbabago sa ating lipunan. Karapat dapat kayo na ipagmalaki sapagkat hindi naging hadlang ang isang pandemya upang kayo ay makatulong at magbigay inspirasyon at pag-asa sa inyong kapwa tao,” Usec. Pascua said.
