Davaoeños receive aid from Bong Go as his team conducts a two-day relief activity while advocating for continued cooperation and vigilance to end COVID-19

PASAY CITY -- Senator Christopher “Bong” Go urged communities not to drop their guard as the fight against COVID-19 continues. In his video message during a two-day relief operation in Davao City, Go reminded his fellow Davaoeños to stay supportive of and cooperative with the government’s pandemic response efforts.

On November 3 and 4, the senator’s team distributed snacks, vitamins, masks and face shields to a total of 1,600 residents, composed of indigents, women, members of the LGBT community, and unemployed individuals, at the respective gymnasiums of Brgys. 35-D, Tacunan, Matina-Biao, and Ulas.

Meanwhile, Go gave selected residents bicycles for their commuting needs. He also gave computer tablets for children’s educational use.

A team from the Department of Social Welfare and Development then gave financial assistance to each beneficiary through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program.

Go, who also serves as Chair of Senate Committee on Health, reminded the residents to prioritize their health and encouraged them to visit the Malasakit Center located at Southern Philippines Medical Center in the city should they need medical assistance from the government.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop designed to assist particularly poor and indigent patients with their medical expenses by putting all concerned agencies, including the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, under one roof.

Senator Go then recognized all public officials for their service to their constituents. Go then appealed to continue their support to ensure that their community recovers from the challenges brought by the pandemic.

To contribute to the development and economic growth of the city, Go, as Vice Chair of Senate Committee on Finance, has supported the construction of multi-purpose buildings in Brgys. Ilang, Mintal, Panacan, San Antonio, Tigatto, Waan, Pampanga, and Gov. Vicente Duterte; and the construction of drainage systems in Brgys. Mintal, Mudiang, Wilfredo Aquino, Ubalde, Buhangin Proper, Centro, Gov. Paciano Bangoy, Bunawan Proper, and Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr.

Go also supported the construction of multi-purpose buildings within the compound of SPMC Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine and in the City Library Complex; acquisition of ambulance units and the construction of 300-bed capacity infectious disease building in SPMC; acquisition of a multi-purpose vehicle and a mini dump truck in Brgys. Callawa, Panacan, Lapu-Lapu, and Cabantian; and construction of drainage systems in Brgys. Centro, Agdao, Gov. Paciano Bangoy, Bunawan Proper, Tomas Monteverde Sr. Agdao, and Mintal. (OSBG)
