BOC Port of Davao rolls out body-worn cameras

MANILA -- The Bureau of Customs – Port of Davao has implemented the use of body-worn cameras (BWCs) and alternative recording devices in its operations according to Customs Memorandum Order (CMO) 33- 2021.

Under said memorandum order, the use of BWCs shall be mandatory for official customs activities including but not limited to controlled delivery operations, guarding duties at customs import exit gates, boarding formalities, disposition of goods under customs custody, intrusive and non-intrusive examination of shipments, fuel marking and field testing.

BOC – Davao led by District Collector, Atty. Erastus Sandino Austria, also conducted an orientation meeting on October 22, 2021, for all concerned offices which shall utilize said equipment.

The procurement and utilization of these assets are part of the continuing efforts of BOC to modernize and strengthen its enforcement and border protection capabilities while further enhancing trade facilitation and improving the collection of lawful revenues of the country. (BOC)
