PASAY CITY -- As calamities continue to affect parts of the country, the Office of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go extended support to the residents of Biñan City, Laguna who were affected by the flooding brought about by Typhoon Maring last October.
In a video message at an activity on Wednesday, November 10, Go renewed his call for the passage of Senate Bill No. 1228 which provides for the establishment of a permanent and dedicated evacuation center in every city, municipality and province to ensure people’s safety and well-being in times of emergency.
His outreach team provided meals, food packs, vitamins and masks to a total of 1,000 flood victims at the Alonte Sports Arena. They also gave selected recipients new pairs of shoes and bicycles, as well as computer tablets for children's use in their studies under the blended learning setup.
To help their recovery, personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development also granted each beneficiary financial assistance through its program for individuals in crisis situations.
The activity is part of an ongoing series of relief activities organized by Go’s office, the most recent of which was held in Calamba City last October 22 for 450 struggling workers. All distributions were conducted in batches and in strict adherence to the health and safety protocols against COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the senator offered further assistance to the beneficiaries and their loved ones in need of medical attention. He informed them that they may conveniently avail of aid from the government through the San Pablo City General Hospital in San Pablo City or Laguna Medical Center in Santa Cruz where Malasakit Centers will be ready to assist them with their hospital and other medical-related expenses.
