PASAY CITY -- Continuing to assist communities in Agusan del Sur that were adversely affected by the national health crisis, the Office of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go conducted another distribution activity in the towns of Talacogon and San Luis on Wednesday, November 10.
In a video message, Go assured residents that the national government will continue to extend all possible support to end the pandemic and help the nation return to normalcy.
In the meantime, please cooperate with us,” added Go.
Go’s staff distributed meals, masks and vitamins to a total of 3,025 residents at the covered courts of Barangays San Agustin and San Nicolas in Talacogon and Doña Maxima Gymnasium and Municipal Amphitheater in San Luis. They also gave selected residents computer tablets, new pairs of shoes, and bicycles.
Moreover, personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development handed out financial assistance through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program. The Department of Trade and Industry and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority also conducted assessments for their respective assistance programs.
Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment evaluated the residents of San Luis for its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged / Displaced Workers program.
Continuing his message, the senator informed those with health concerns that they may conveniently avail of medical assistance from the government through the Malasakit Center in Democrito O. Plaza Memorial Hospital in Prosperidad.
The Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which was primarily initiated by Go, mandates all hospitals managed and administered by the Department of Health, and Philippine General Hospital, to establish their own centers that would help particularly poor and indigent patients with their medical expenses by covering various patient services and fees.
