Sen. Go aids the elderly and other vulnerable residents in San Miguel and Norzagaray, Bulacan

PASAY CITY -- After conducting an activity for indigent residents in Calumpit on November 11, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s outreach team continued to provide aid support to vulnerable residents, this time for those in San Miguel and Norzagaray, Bulacan from November 15 to 17.

In a video message, Go reminded the public to follow the required health protocols, especially if they have an increased risk of severe illness, and urged authorities to diligently administer the vaccines to ensure that no one is left behind on the path to recovery.

His team provided meals, vitamins and masks to a total 3,020 beneficiaries, composed of senior citizens and newly resettled families. The activities were held in batches at the San Miguel High School gymnasium and the relocation site in Barangay Bitunggol, Norzagaray in compliance with health and safety protocols.

They also gave selected beneficiaries new pairs of shoes and bicycles which can be used for work purposes and computer tablets for their children’s blended learning activities.

To help alleviate the financial impacts of the pandemic, staff from the Department of Social Welfare and Development handed out financial assistance under its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program.

As Chair of Senate Committee on Health, Go offered to help those in need of medical care and advised them to avail of the services of the Malasakit Center at the Bulacan Medical Center in Malolos City or Rogaciano M. Mercado Memorial Hospital in Santa Maria.

The center is a one-stop shop which provides convenient access to the medical assistance programs of the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. The Malasakit Centers program was launched in 2018 and has since expanded to 149 locations, assisting over three million patients nationwide.

The senator ended his message thanking 3rd District Representative Lorna Silverio, Governor Daniel Fernando, Vice Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado, San Miguel Mayor Roderick Tiongson and Vice Mayor John Alvarez, and Norzagaray Mayor Alfredo Germar and Vice Mayor Rogelio Santos Jr., among others, for their solidarity and continued efforts to combat the pandemic.

To create new jobs and improve the delivery of key public services in the province, Go has supported various local initiatives in his capacity as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance.

He supported the completion of the First Scout Ranger Regiment clubhouse and quarters and construction of a new building at Camp Tecson; concreting of the road in Barangays Labne and Balaong; and provision of an ambulance and dump trucks for the local government of San Miguel.

Other initiatives he supported include the construction of farm-to-markets roads in Calumpit and San Ildefonso; construction of slope concrete river walls in Calumpit; construction of a multi-purpose building in Plaridel; rehabilitation of the Bulacan State University Activity Center and construction of a multi-purpose building in Malolos City; provision of medical equipment for local hospitals; and improvement of the Pandi District Hospital.
