PASAY CITY -- On Thursday, November 18, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s office delivered assistance to a total of 353 struggling individuals composed of fire victims and indigents in the cities of Quezon, Manila and Parañaque in Metro Manila.
In his video message during the activities held at the respective covered courts of Barangays San Agustin, Damayang Lagi and Sangandaan in Quezon City; Barangay 69 in Manila City; and Barangay Baclaran in Parañaque City, the senator appealed for the public’s continued cooperation and vigilance as the fight against COVID-19 continues.
Go, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, assured that the government will continue to intensify its inoculation efforts to reach more far-flung areas, especially considering that President Rodrigo Duterte had given a go signal to expand the vaccine rollout to the public.
Go’s team handed out meals, vitamins and masks for the beneficiaries who were grouped into smaller batches to ensure a well-organized distribution, in compliance with health and safety protocols.
The team also gave grocery packs and financial assistance to the fire victims. Select residents from Manila also received new pairs of shoes, bicycles and computer tablets.
In a separate distribution, the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided financial assistance to the residents as part of an ongoing effort by the government to alleviate burdens caused by the pandemic and other crisis situations.
Continuing his message, Go advised the beneficiaries that there are 31 Malasakit Centers in Metro Manila that they may visit to conveniently avail of medical assistance from the government.
The center is a one-stop shop that designed to help particularly poor and indigent patients easily avail of medical assistance from partner agencies, including the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Concluding his remarks, the senator commended the local leaders of each city for working hand-in-hand to provide the necessary support for their constituents. He further appealed to continue their service until their respective communities fully recover.
