MANDALUYONG CITY -- From November 24 to November 26, 2021, the Philippine Red Cross(PRC), together with the other Red Cross and Red Crescent (RCRC) National Societies, participates in the RCRC Collaboration Platform 2021 to be better informed, better connected, and better engaged in understanding and working in an urban context.
"Our hearts are for our country, and we always go above and beyond to serve the people, especially to the most vulnerable," Chairman and CEO Senator Dick Gordon
As the PRC has had numerous contributions towards COVID-19 response since the beginning of the pandemic, it will be sharing its initiatives like the mobilization of PRC Bakuna Buses to scale COVID-19 vaccine and the Urban WASH Development Program in Cebu. The PRC also plans to include an earthquake preparedness video to be shown in the virtual collaborative platform.
The PRC Urban WASH Development Program by the PRC WASH Unit is a five-year project in Metro Cebu under the Sustainable and Resilient Pro-poor Water Supply Project, a Public-Private Partnership program aiming to increase access to safe, sufficient water supply and improved sanitation to urban poor communities in Cebu, Mandaue, and Talisay. The project aims to reach 1,200 individuals who will have access to safer sanitation facilities by the end of the project with a change in hygiene behavior.
Meanwhile, to support the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program, the PRC Health Services mobilized the PRC Bakuna Buses launched last July 2021 to further the vaccination initiative. In partnership with UBE Express, Victory Liner, and Ceres Liner, this program has administered over 159,226 doses while fully vaccinating 51,674 individuals as of November 24, 2021. The PRC currently has seventeen Bakuna Buses spread throughout different regions in Metro Manila, Region 2, Region 4, Region 6, and Region 7.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and German Red Cross organized the RCRC Collaboration Platform 2021 sponsored by the German Federal Foreign Office. This year's theme focuses on reaching out across the time zones in an engaging effort aiming to share practices, connect with other national societies, and engage with urban program matters striving to make cities safer, more resilient to climate change, and more inclusive for everyone.
