DTI, DAR team up to spur rural agro-industrial growth

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) work together to provide extensive market and product development assistance to  agrarian reform communities (ARCs) and agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs).

DTI Mimaropa Regional Director and DTI-Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) Program Manager Joel B. Valera met with the recently appointed DAR Chief Bernie Cruz to deliberate plans for agrarian groups in the country. One of the highlights of the meeting was to intensify the roll-out of Common Service Facilities (CSF), the provision of farm production, and post-harvest machinery and equipment to the agrarian beneficiaries. The CSF aims to level up production and increase productivity for economic development in rural areas. Moreover, the intensified collaboration between DTI-CARP and DAR shall also bring forth marketing assistance that will help the beneficiaries become compliant with statutory regulations, product development, market promotion through trade fairs, market linkages, and capacity development.

“Kailangan tulungan ang mga agrarian reform communities and beneficiaries’ organizations, at small land owners para magkaroon sila ng continuous livelihood opportunities. The development of the country’s agricultural sector plays a big role sa poverty reduction and inclusive growth.”, DTI Mimaropa Regional Director Valera said in an interview.

DTI-CARP and DAR share the same vision of fostering nationwide entrepreneurship development that will emanate from the countryside and kindled farmer-beneficiaries and landowner alike under the two agencies.  (DTI)
