PASAY CITY -- Senator Christopher “Bong” Go reminded the public to abide by the mandated protocols against COVID-19 as his team continued its relief efforts in Malimono, Tagana-an, Sison and Dapa, Surigao del Norte to mitigate the adverse impacts of the pandemic on various vulnerable sectors.
Go underscored the importance of cooperation in restoring normalcy and resuscitating the economy in a video message on Thursday, November 25.
“Lagi nating alalahanin na hindi kaya ng gobyernong mag-isa ang laban kontra pandemya. Hindi rin kakayanin ng mga frontliners kung patuloy na dadami ang kailangang dalhin sa mga ospital. Preventing the spread of COVID-19 starts with us by being responsible citizens and following health and safety protocols," opened Go.
“Let us remain vigilant at sumunod sa mga patakaran. Ugaliing magsuot ng mask, mag-social distancing, maghugas ng kamay at kung hindi kailangang lumabas ay manatili na lang sa bahay upang maiwasan ang hawaan ng sakit na ito. Ituloy natin ang pakikipag-bayanihan sa kapwa,” he continued.
The senator's team distributed snacks and masks to 1,574 individuals from various sectoral groups. They also gave away bicycles and computer tablets to select residents to help address some of the challenges caused by the pandemic.
In addition, personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development handed out financial assistance as part of its intervention measures for communities in crisis. The Department of Trade and Industry and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority also conducted assessments for their respective assistance programs.
Go also advised those needing medical care to visit the Caraga Regional Hospital in Surigao City or Siargao Island Medical Center in Dapa where they may conveniently avail of the services of the Malasakit Centers therein.
The Malasakit Center program was institutionalized to improve the delivery of medical assistance for particularly poor and indigent patients by bringing together the relevant government agencies under one roof. The agencies include the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
