MANDALUYONG CITY -- Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and CEO Sen. Dick Gordon reiterates the importance of practicing health protocols despite lowering COVID-19 cases.
With the threat of the Omicron variant spreading rapidly across other countries, PRC prepares its assets to help stop the virus from spreading once it enters.
Sen. Gordon ordered all PRC Chapters nationwide to prepare all necessary equipment to combat COVID-19. Among the initiatives of PRC are the 14 molecular laboratories, 17 Bakuna Buses, 25 Bakuna Centers, Emergency Field Hospital, Medical Tents, Isolation Facilities, Food Trucks, and Negative Pressure Ambulance.
"We are at war against COVID-19. Wala pa ang omicron variant sa ating bansa pero maganda na tayo ay handa kung sakali tumaas ulit ang kaso ng COVID-19. With the easing travel restrictions, we should still practice health protocols, at huwag munang lumabas kung Hindi kailangan," Sen Dick Gordon said.
PRC, the leading humanitarian organization in Covid-19 response, conducted nearly 5 Million tests, vaccinated more than 600,00 individuals, catered to thousands of patients in its emergency field hospital and isolation facilities, which will continue to support individuals affected by COVID-19.
"While we prepare all our assets that will combat COVID-19, it is important as individuals to prevent it by practising health protocols. It is not the time to be complacent. We should wear a mask when going out, protect our eyes by using a shield or goggles, social distance, hand hygiene as often as possible, no unnecessary travel, and get vaccinated!" Gordon added.
