Farmers cooperatives to supply food requirements of Camiguin hospital and detention center

QUEZON CITY -- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently established a steady market for the NAGPAKABANA Multi-Purpose Cooperative and BACNIT Multi-Purpose Cooperative to supply their agricultural products to Camiguin General Hospital (CGH)  and Camiguin Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC).

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Maybelle Alcala said this was made possible through the signing of a marketing agreement between the two agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) and the said institutions under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty Program (EPAHPP).

“The agreement would enable the farmers’ groups to supply fresh, readily available, and healthy vegetables to the hospital and detention center to provide for the daily nutritional needs of people in these institutions,” Alcala said.

EPAHPP is a government initiative aimed at mitigating hunger, providing food security, and reducing poverty in the country.

Monico Q. Lagubis, NAGPAKABANA MPC representative, expressed his gratitude for this agreement because an additional market would generate additional income for the cooperative and its members.

Anita O. Santana, a representative from Bacnit MPC, assured the CGH and the CPDR that they would provide the two institutions with quality products. (DAR)
