BI partners with PSA for national ID registration

MANILA -- The Bureau of Immigration (BI) thanked the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) for providing its employees with national
IDs through the agency’s Philippine Identification System.

A special on-site National ID registration for BI officials and employees was conducted at the BI’s office in Intramuros.

To ensure social distancing, employees were scheduled and grouped by the BI’s administrative division in 5 separate days.

BI Deputy Commissioner Aldwin Alegre inspected the site registration on its initial roll out last Nov. 25 and shared that the process was “systematic, quick, and followed health standards”.

Republic Act No. 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, aims to establish a single national identification system for all citizens and resident aliens of the Philippines. It is meant to simplify public and private transactions, to promote seamless delivery of social services and strengthen financial inclusion for both public and private services.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente thanked the PSA for accommodating the frontliners for the registration. “We thank the team of USec Claire Dennis Mapa for the project,” said Morente. “This partnership with the PSA has allowed our frontliners to secure the much-needed national ID without having to leave their duties, at a time when we are spread thinly because of Covid restrictions,” he stated.
