PASAY CITY -- The Philippines on Friday, December 10, received a total of 3,646,600 doses of Astrazeneca and Moderna vaccines procured by the national government and the private sector.

Of these latest shipments, 698,600 AstraZeneca doses were procured by the private sector.

Meanwhile, out of the 2,948,000 doses of Moderna vaccines that arrived - the biggest single day delivery by the US-based manufacturer - 2,102,000 doses were purchased by the government, while 846,000 doses were bought by the private sector.

The latest vaccine deliveries brings to 155,071,570 the total COVID-19 doses received by the Philippines since February.

“The US government really supports the Department of Health and the Philippine government in the fight against COVID-19 in accelerating the vaccinations of the target population. We’re here to further support the Philippine government in the health needs of the Filipino people,” Yolanda Oliveros, USAID deputy health director said in an interview following the arrival of the vaccines.

According to Jannette Jakosalem, Zuellig Pharma market managing director, 16 million Moderna vaccine doses purchased by the national government and private sector have been delivered to the country.

National Task Force against COVID-19 special adviser Dr. Teodoro Herbosa said the latest vaccine deliveries will be used for the ‘Bayanihan Bakunahan’ vaccination campaign slated from December 15 to 17 which aims to inoculate 7 million Filipinos.

“I hope the LGUs around the Philippines will continue to perform and meet the target of 7 million or more [vaccinations],” Herbosa said.

“I want to ask our fellow Filipinos who are still not vaccinated to please get your vaccines. Pwede mag walk-in during the Bayanihan, Bakunahan,” he added. (National Task Force against COVID-19)
