PASAY CITY -- During the relief operations organized by his team in Bugasong and Laua-an, Antique on Thursday, December 9, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go repeated his appeal for Filipinos nationwide to participate in the government’s vaccination efforts to help the country attain population protection eventually leading to herd immunity.
Go encouraged in a video message.
His team provided snacks and masks to a total of 2,000 residents at Bugasong Elementary School and Laua-an Municipal Gymnasium. They also gave select residents new pairs of shoes and bicycles.
Personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development also distributed financial assistance to the residents. The Department of Trade and Industry and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, meanwhile, extended livelihood support and scholarship grants to qualified individuals, respectively.
The activities were carried out in small batches in strict adherence to the government-issued health and safety protocols against COVID-19.
To help those with medical concerns, Go, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, offered additional aid and encouraged them to visit the Malasakit Center at Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital in San Jose de Buenavista.
The Malasakit Center aims to provide convenient access to the medical assistance programs of the government by bringing under one roof the offices of the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Mag-ingat tayo palagi dahil delikado pa ang panahon dahil dito sa COVID-19,” the senator said.
As Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Go also supported several initiatives in the province to boost its development, such as the purchase of multicabs in Laua-an; improvement of a public park in Belison; expansion of the water system in Libertad; construction of a bridge in Patnongon; purchase of an ambulance and construction of a flood control structure in San Jose; and construction of a covered court in San Remigio, among others.
