BACOOR CITY –- More than 1,400 families will have the perfect early Christmas gift this year following the ceremonial turnover of a new government housing project in this city.
Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario spearheaded the ceremonial turnover of Ciudad de Strike Phase I – the latest project by the Social Housing Finance Corporation – in Barangay Molino 1, Bacoor City.
A total of 1,440 units will be built under the scheme, part of SHFC’s Community Mortgage Program, and will benefit families living in danger zones across Bacoor City.
In his message, Secretary Del Rosario congratulated the project’s beneficiaries, saying they are lucky to be gifted with housing units they can definitely be proud of.
Secretary Del Rosario also reiterated DHSUD’s housing principles – that housing is a right of every Filipino family, it is the Department’s responsibility to capacitate the underprivileged in having access to decent and affordable housing, as well as ensure that no sub-standard housing project is built under the Duterte administration.
Also gracing the event were SHFC President Arnolfo Ricardo Cabling, Cavite 2nd Representative Strike Revilla, Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, other local officials and recipients of the housing units.
Both Rep. Revilla and Mayor Mercado-Revilla expressed their gratitude to the Duterte administration through DHSUD, as well as to SHFC for making the project a reality.
Cabling, for his part, said the project is in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to expand the government’s housing program nationwide.
He likewise expressed hope that the project will become an example and inspiration for other LGUs in helping provide decent and affordable shelter to the needy.
The Ciudad de Strike Phase I is the third low-rise housing project turned over by SHFC over the past two months.
In November, the key shelter agency also handed over a total of 374 housing units to informal settler families in two high-density housing structures in Malabon City and Quezon City. (DHSUD)
