MANILA -- Amidst the threat posed by Typhoon Odette, some 1,164,150 doses of Pfizer vaccines arrived in the Philippines on Friday night, December 17.
To date, a total of 31,986,630 Pfizer doses out of the 40 million doses purchased by the national government through a multilateral agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have been delivered to the country.
During an interview following the arrival of the vaccines, NTF medical consultant Dr. Ma. Paz Corrales noted that some regions postponed the National Vaccination Days due to Typhoon Odette.
“Merong mga Rehiyon na magsisimula sa December 20, 21, and 22 because not only should we ensure the safety and security of the vaccines, but also the security of our health workers,” Corales said.
“That’s why we have postponed and have different national vaccination days [for] the regions affected by the typhoon,” she added.
As of December 16, the government has administered a total of 100,019,137 of COVID-19 vaccine doses nationwide.
Of this number, 55,975,001 were administered as first doses, 43,029,348, as second doses, and 1,014,788 as booster shots. (National Task Force Against COVID-19)
