NAVAL STATION JOSE ANDRADA, Manila – BRP Iwak (LC289) departed Cavite City at 4 a.m. today, December 20, for a humanitarian assistance and disaster response mission to Surigao Port, Surigao City.

Onboard her are the relief goods and other cargoes bound for Surigao City, which include 7.8 tons of bottled water from the Office of the Vice President, 142 5-gallon water containers and 4 boxes bottled water from Naval Task Group National Capital Region, 50 sacks of rice from Jam Pinaroc, 130 pieces of bottled water from Maynilad, and other consolidated assorted relief goods from the different units of the Philippine Fleet and other non-government and private stakeholders.

These well-meaning stakeholders include the Christian Bible Baptist Church, Bliss Restaurant and Pawssion Project Spar.

The cargoes were loaded yesterday, December 19, until the late hours of the evening at Sangley Point, Cavite City. BRP Iwak departed for its voyage to conduct humanitarian assistance and disaster response to the affected populace caused by Typhoon "Odette"
this morning, December 20.

This effort exemplifies that the Philippine Navy, along with many other partner atakeholders, is actively engaged in humanitarian assistance to typhoon-afflicted areas. (PN)
