MANDALUYONG CITY -- Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and CEO Sen. Richard "Dick" Gordon led the inauguration of the new blood collecting unit blood station facility in Nasugbu, Batangas on December 20, 2021. The new blood facility is in partnership with Nasugbu, Batangas LGU, headed by Mayor Antonio Barcelon, which will serve the municipalities of Taal, Lemery, Calaca, Balayan, Tuy, Nasugnbu, Lian, and Calatagan with an overall population of 609,010.
The inauguration of the new building is also attended by PRC Secretary General Elizabeth Zavalla, BPRC Batangas Chapter Administrator Ronald Generoso and other executives from the Philippine Red Cross and the Local Govenrment Unit (LGU) of Nasugbu, Batangas.
Through the Red Cross’ life-saving services that aim to alleviate human suffering and uplift the dignity of the people, the need for expansion is necessary. Through Mayor Antonio Barcelon, the PRC Batangas chapter Nasugbu Branch transferred into a more spacious environment which will boost PRC’s Humanitarian service.
The local government unit of Nasugbu provided 12 detailed staff for blood services, 10-detailed staff for Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Response Unit, donated one ambulance, branch and blood facilities building, one unit blood refrigerator, and annual blood samaritan program amounting to P400,000 per year.
“Binuksan na natin ang bagong Blood station facility upang makapagsilbi sa mga taong nangangailangan ng dugo. I encourage everyone to donate blood, especially this holiday season. The need for blood doesn’t stop. The blood that you will donate now, will save lives tomorrow,” Chairman Gordon said.
PRC remains one of the top contributors to safe and quality blood supply in the country, saving millions of lives and improving the health and quality of life of many patients every day.
