MANDALUYONG CITY -- “The Philippine Red Cross’ (PRC) 10-man disaster response team arrived in Super Typhoon Odette-ravaged Siargao with VSATs to restore lifeline communications in the island. That help has arrived and recovery operations have begun," said PRC Chairman Senator Dick Gordon.
The PRC has proven that it continues to bring hope to super Typhoon Odette-affected communities by installing Very Small Aperture Terminals or VSATs in the devastated island. The PRC was the first to set up the two VSATs to restore lifelines on the island. A second VSAT was also established in Surigao City.
Meanwhile, PRC Disaster Management Services said that they will set up more VSATs in Palawan and Southern Leyte.
"With our continued commitment to the preservation of life and dignity, we always go the extra mile to help our people," emphasized Chairman and CEO Gordon.
