Gordon thanks Consular Corps for Odette donation

MANDALUYONG CITY -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and CEO Richard "Dick" Gordon received a generous donation from the Consular Corps of the Philippines amounting to boost the PRC's ongoing Super Typhoon Odette operations.

As described by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon, "this typhoon Odette (Rai) is almost like Haiyan, in fact in some places it hit us more than Haiyan."

The PRC is currently focusing its efforts on disaster response and recovery operations to cater to the needs of the affected areas.

Super Odette, 2021's strongest typhoon, has affected more than a million individuals in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. As Chairman Gordon shared, apart from the ongoing pandemic, there are many challenges due to the loss of livelihood, infrastructure damage, and crop damage. "Even communication and medical facilities are affected, but the most affected are the most vulnerable, and there are many poor in our country," said Gordon.

As the lifeline of the people, the PRC will continue to reach out, and send hope to those in need, whoever, whenever, and wherever they may be. "Their donation will surely go a long way in helping the most vulnerable and further strenghten PRC’s humanitarian efforts to uplift human dignity,” said Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon.

Also present in the turnover were Mr. David Ambrus, Deputy Head of Mission Hungary and Dean of the Consular Corps Philippines, Mr. Fernando Pena, Consul of Estonia, and Secretary-General Elizabeth Zavalla. (Philippine Red Cross)
