PRC continues relief operations to aid the most vulnerable affected by Typhoon Odette

MANDALUYONG CITY -- Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and CEO Sen. Richaard "Dick" Gordon mobilized the different Red Cross local chapter administrators to provide humanitarian interventions to families affected by Typhoon Odette on December 22, 2021.

PRC Cebu Chapter deployed a water tanker and distributed 12,000 liters of water in Sitio Young Urgellan Organization (YUO) in Brgy. Sambag 1, serving 756 individuals. In Negros Oriental, 241 individuals received food packs, distributed 390 liters of clean and potable water at Brgy. Cabugan, Bindoy. PRC also distributed face masks to prevent COVID-19 transmission in the evacuation areas.

“Patuloy ang mga Red Cross Staff at Volunteers sa pagbibigay ng humanitarian service kahit na kapaskuhan. Our celebration of Christmas is to help other people recover from the damage brought by Typhoon Odette. We need to protect the people, we do what must be done,” Gordon said.

To date, PRC provided hot meals to 22,561 individuals, psychosocial support to 725 individuals, Hygiene promotion to 1,007 individuals, and distributed 31,550 liters of water. Chairman Gordon vows to help the affected communities until they recover from the damage brought by the typhoon. (Philippine Red Cross)
